Questions

What is herringbone flooring?

Short rectangular planks laid in a zig-zag, with the end of each plank meeting the side of the next. It is a classic pattern in real wood and reads as more custom than straight planks.

What is the difference between classic and modern herringbone?

Size. Classic planks are 2.68" x 13.39", the traditional small block. Modern planks are 3.58" x 21.49", so the zig-zag is larger and more open. Both are 11.3 mm thick with the same oak colors: Powder White, Misty White, Natural and Terra Brown.

Is herringbone harder to install than straight planks?

Yes. The pattern has to be laid out from a center line so it runs straight through the room, and there are more cuts at the walls. That is why herringbone installation is priced after we measure the room.

Is it real wood?

Yes. The surface is real oak (0.6 mm), bonded to a stable core. It is engineered hardwood, not a printed vinyl or laminate look.

Can herringbone go in a kitchen?

It can, with care: the seams are waterproof, but the surface is wood, so wipe spills up promptly. For kitchens, baths and laundry rooms where water is constant, waterproof rigid core vinyl plank is the safer choice.

Do you install it?

Yes. Our own insured crews install it in the Liberty Hill / North Austin area and around Waco, to the manufacturer's specs. Installation is priced after a measure. Our crews are insured, and every installation has a 6-month workmanship warranty from the date of installation.
